For couples dreaming of an alfresco celebration surrounded by nature, these venues offer incredible open-air canvases across Essex and Suffolk. Our wild, botanical, and meadow-style floral aesthetic thrives in these natural settings — from designing free-form outdoor ceremony arbours and wildflower aisle runners to framing rustic woodland glades and vineyard marquees.
Here are our favourite outdoor, woodland, and vineyard settings for bringing an organic, garden-inspired floral vision to life.
Venues we love
Barnston Lodge
A charming country estate featuring a magnificent Georgian house overlooking a private lake, surrounded by expansive lawns and mature trees. The open grounds provide an ideal setting for romantic outdoor ceremony arbours, meadow-lined lakefront pathways, and airy marquee floral displays.
A serene riverside venue set within 200 acres of meadow and woodland, featuring luxury tipis and glamping accommodation on the water’s edge. It is the ultimate canvas for whimsical, botanical floral installations, ground-nesting meadow aisles, and rustic wooden dining tables adorned with loose foliage and candlelight.
Nestled within 40 acres of rolling vineyards, wildflower pastures, and woodland on the edge of the Dedham Vale. The rustic vines and open-air ceremony spots pair naturally with textured, vine-incorporated floral arches, organic bouquet palettes, and relaxed alfresco table arrangements.
Home to an arboretum, ancient woodland, and a secluded 18th-century Coach House surrounded by a walled garden. The towering trees and historic brickwork provide a breathtaking backdrop for dramatic woodland ceremony arches, botanical floral installations, and lush foliage-focused styling.
Hidden away between an apple orchard and ancient woodland, Teybrook Orchard offers a secluded outdoor venue complete with grain silos, marquees, and woodland ceremony spaces. It is tailor-made for wild, unstructured floral arches, hanging greenery in the orchard trees, and romantic, untamed floral arrangements.
A family-run vineyard featuring a beautifully restored 400-year-old Cellar Barn set against sweeping rows of grapevines. The combination of historic timber beams and lush vineyard surroundings allows for striking hanging beam florals, vine-inspired installations, and elegant meadow-style table runners.
One of my favourite parts of designing wedding flowers is finding the balance between the venue and the couple.
Your flowers don’t have to match your venue perfectly — they can contrast with it, soften it or bring out details that you might not have noticed when you first fell in love with the space.
Outdoor wedding venues complement naturalistic, wildflower designs perfectly, working with the space to enhance and personalise the venue.
And because every venue is different, I design each wedding individually rather than working from a fixed formula.
Getting married at one of these venues?
If you’ve already chosen your outdoor wedding venue, I’d love to hear about your plans.
Tell me about your venue, the season you’re getting married in and the kind of atmosphere you’d love to create. We can then start thinking about how your wedding flowers could work within the space — from your bouquet and buttonholes through to ceremony flowers, table arrangements and statement installations.
Megan Daisy Floral Design creates seasonal, natural and beautifully considered wedding flowers for couples getting married across Colchester, Essex and Suffolk.
